Download Festival Diary 2015 | Mooi en Lief

Despite the constant rain, floods of mud and mountains of damp clothing, I had THE time of my life at Download Festival. 2015 was my first year attending and I can assure you it won't be my last. AmyHelen and I were kindly sent over by Dutch wellington boot brand, Mooi en Lief

Download is currently Europe's second largest festival and it's attended by hundreds of thousands of rock and metal fans each year. I've wanted to go since my teen years, as the line-up always looks incredible. I pinched myself when we were given the opportunity to attend this month.

Amy and I stayed in Dorothy, our VW camper van, which automatically made the experience a million times more enjoyable - having a proper roof over our heads, decent bedding and storage made getting up each morning that little bit easier! Our Mooi en Lief wellies saved the day too; we had to wear them daily as we were striding through swimming pools of mud 24/7 (sounds gross - it was).
One of the greatest things about Download for me was the feeling of it being one big "family", as cheesy as it sounds! I've never been surrounded by so many like-minded people.

I'm still not over the fact that I saw so many of my heroes live, over one weekend; my favourites were L7 (one of my favourite bands of all time), Marilyn Manson (of course), Slipknot (INCREDIBLE), Young Guns (listen to their new album ASAP, please and thank you), Mötley Crüe (the first and last time I'll ever see them live, as they're parting ways after 35 years - sob), Hollywood Undead, A Day To Remember and believe it or not Enter Shikari, who I've never really warmed to before.

If my weekend couldn't get any better, my friend Matt casually introduced me to Vinnie Paul in the press area on Friday. If any of you know me and my music taste well, you'd know Pantera are my life. Matt brought me over and I froze. Pantera's drummer was just standing in front of me. Argh! He was so sweet, hugged me and posed for photos and oh my god, I'm still in a state of shock. Gah.
All in all, Download was by far the greatest festival I have attended so far. The food was fantastic, the cashless 'dog tag' system was genius and the overall layout of the arena was brilliant. I can't recommend it enough if you're into alternative music, as it's the most chilled-out, fun, inclusive and positive festival I've experienced.

If you'd like to stop my outfits featured above, check out the widget at the bottom of the post featuring same and similar styles from Missguided. They're currently running an offer where you can get 30% off festival clothes by entering the code FESTIVAL30 at checkout! (Make sure your Ad Block is switched off to see the widget). Thanks so much to Mooi en Lief and Download Festival for this incredible opportunity. Let's hope for a drier 2016 - see you there!
