The third instalment of my GTL series is based on a girl who has been through the highs and lows of fame; Sky Ferreira is a musician and a globally-known "It" girls (I hate the term) and her style has its fair share of lovers and haters. I, of course, love her style - and her music. There's very few celebrities I admire or quite frankly, even care about these days but there's a handful of 'em - mostly musicians - who's style I absolutely adore and take inspiration from constantly. Sky is a grunge girl at heart but loves to dress up for an occasion and is opening to trying new styles each season - like myself. She's not afraid to step out of the door in head-to-toe Givenchy or a Metallica band t-shirt she found found crumpled on her floor, alike. The 90's are her biggest inspiration and the key is too not try too hard with anything - clothing, hair and makeup should look like you've put it all together in 15 minutes but still look somewhat edgy and gorgeous!
Sky tends to veer towards blacks, greys and whites as a general colour palette for her outfits. She likes to wear skirts or dresses as opposed to shorts and jeans most of the time; they're toughened up with chunky leather boots and knitted sweaters to take away some of the girlishness. Denim, florals, flannel, leather and pleather alike - Sky's not afraid to mix it up or have fun with clothes and introduce new cuts and designs into her wardrobe. Shops to head into for Sky-esque clobber would be American Apparel, Urban Outfitters (UNIF, Mink Pink and Sparkle & Fade) and every vintage store you can find - keep an eye out for oversized battered Levi jackets, worn-in army boots, knitted distressed Kurt Cobain-style jumpers and band tee's of all kinds.
(All clothing featured from Unif, Topshop, New Look and Motel Rocks.)
