Clarins Odyssey Christmas Collection - Review

Morning all! One of my favourite brands at the moment, Clarins, have brought out an absolutely beautiful limited edition collection for Christmas this year - the Odyssey collection. With exquisite packaging and wonderful products, these are ideal as gifts for either yourself, or someone else (or both)! I received the Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in '09' (€40.00) and the Face Palette (€55.00) to review, and I've been obsessed with them ever since I got my hands on them.
The majority of my recent eye makeup looks have been achieved with using the eye palette; they are the perfect colours for absolutely anyone, for any look. You have a warm highlight shade, a dark brown, a medium brown and a gorgeous coppery-gold shade. You can achieve anything from a neutral eye, a pin-up eye, a smokey eye, a bronzey eye - anything, with this palette. The eyeshadows themselves are a dream to use; they're creamy and easy to blend. I must say though, the coppery shade is quite flaky, so you have to be quite careful when applying it. However, it's stunning - they're all stunning. It's one of my favourite palettes of all time, and I know it'll be ideal for travel with the compact mirror, and neat size. In love!
The face palette is a work of art, with its luxurious packaging and stunning design on the power itself. Unfortunately, the gold shimmer on the design does come off after a few uses but the design has yet to budge off of the palette for me. I use the power to warn up my cheeks, using it instead of a blush and contour powder. I apply it lightly, as a heavy dusting would look too dark for my pale complexion. It's a shade that would suit most skin tones, if applied suited to you. It's such a gem to bring out with you, it's definitely a head-turner of a palette!
I honestly cannot say enough about these products, and Clarins as a brand in general. I've fallen head over heels for both their skincare and makeup this year, and I've a feeling I'll be a devoted fan from here on in. The prices can be quite steep for most, but the products are 100% worth it - I assure you.

  9. Ohhh....that compact is the epitome of luxury, not a brand I would usually look at, so thanks for 'opening my eyes' to it ! Also I really admire your article on body image, it's a complex subject: I attended Caryn Franklin's All Walks seminar/workshop at uni, and used the subject as part of my dissertation on 'perceived ideal body image through the decades'. As you so rightly point out... we are our own worst critics, and that needs to change :) modemadeleine.blogspot.co.uk
